Production Systems Engineer
About the Role
As a Production Systems Engineer, you will drive the lifecycle management and technical strategy for advanced manufacturing infrastructure. You will play a pivotal role in optimizing automation, robot integration, and paint shop systems to enhance operational efficiency across our North American facilities.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, specification, and deployment of complex automation and robotic systems to improve production throughput.
Evaluate and implement equipment project proposals, ensuring alignment with standardized performance metrics and safety protocols.
Manage the full project lifecycle for equipment upgrades, including layout design, process capability assessments, and vendor coordination.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate paint shop technologies, such as ovens, abatement systems, and air houses.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including equipment specifications and compliance standards for machine risk analysis.
Utilize vision systems and PLC logic to troubleshoot and enhance existing manufacturing processes.
Communicate project status, KPIs, and strategic recommendations to leadership through detailed technical reporting.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical professional experience.
2+ years of hands-on project management experience within a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in CAD or similar 3D modeling software for layout and process design.
Demonstrated experience in equipment specification development and procurement documentation.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify constraints and implement effective technical countermeasures.
Preferred Skills
Experience with PLC programming and industrial robot integration.
Knowledge of conveyor systems and MSRC/Machine Risk Analysis standards.
Familiarity with new model introduction (NMI) processes.
Multilingual proficiency (English/Spanish/Japanese) is a significant asset.
