Transmission Engineer

Transmission EngineerHybrid RoleABOUT THE ROLEOur client is seeking a Transmission Engineer to join project teams responsible for creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments involving underground and overhead high voltage transmission lines. The Transmission Engineer will collaborate with project teams throughout the design and construction process, adapting transmission plans to meet budget constraints, design factors, and client needs. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and clients.WHAT YOU'LL DOPerform transmission design for projects from conceptual phase through design completionModify and review transmission components based on project requirements set forth by project managersPrepare transmission equipment specifications, data sheets, Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendationsConduct economic conductor selection studies, lightning performance, and grounding calculations/studiesCompile calculations for required electrical clearances based on NESC or other applicable codes and resourcesInterpret and apply necessary NERC, FERC, and regional requirements and standardsApply strong knowledge of commonly used transmission engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the transmission engineering services industryResearch and compile project-related data as required by project managers; compile studies and reports; write specificationsUpdate and verify corrections in drawings provided by senior engineers using multiple CAD-related softwareCompile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for a variety of facility typesPerform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clientsCollaborate with project teams and adapt transmission plans to budget, design, or client needsPerform other duties as assignedWHAT YOU BRINGBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited programOr Bachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examMaster of Science degree in Civil Engineering may be substituted for 1 year of experienceMinimum of 3 years of experience in transmission engineering; 5 years preferredPrior consulting experience strongly preferredSuccessful completion (passing) FE or EIT preferredStrong knowledge in standard civil/structural engineering techniques and proceduresExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment; demonstrated critical thinking skillsStrong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and PLS-CADDStrong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skillsDisclaimer: Brooksource, Medasource, and Calculated Hire are part of the Eight Eleven Group family of companies and operate under Eight Eleven Group, LLC.
