In this role, you will partner with Roku's engineering, product management, IT, finance, operations and procurement teams to negotiate complex technology agreements that support Roku's business and technical operations, including the infrastructure that powers the Roku platform. This is a fantastic opportunity for an attorney looking to further develop their legal skills.This role is based in San Jose, California or Austin, Texas, and reports to the Assistant General Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs.For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $280,000 - $315,000 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.What You Will Be DoingReview, draft, and negotiate contracts, including SaaS, professional services, software licensing and network services contracts, non-disclosure agreements, data privacy addendumsCollaborate with and support business owners in negotiating business terms to achieve cost savings, manage risk and drive innovationIdentify ways to make the contract review and tracking process more efficient, building upon the use of existing templates, playbooks, and CLM toolsCollaborate with internal, cross-functional team members on a variety of issues, including privacy, security, compliance, and product issuesAdvise Roku's internal stakeholders on a wide variety of contract-related issues, including contract interpretation, intellectual property, data privacy and confidentialitySupport continuous improvement of forms, policies, and processes to help streamline, simplify, and automate relevant contracting processesKeep up to date on the latest developments in applicable laws, regulations, and industry trendsWe are Excited If You HaveAt least 4 years of experience structuring and negotiating SaaS and cloud services contracts, including in an in-house roleA good understanding of how technology drives the structure, value and risks in transactionsA proven ability to draft agreements using existing templates and playbooks or from scratchExperience drafting and negotiating data privacy and security termsExperience working in a cross-department, cross-functional role requiring good relationship building skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to persuade, including the ability to effectively relay complex information in a clear and concise formatA solid understanding of the different types of intellectual property and related issues in agreementsA proven track record of learning quickly, taking initiative, working proactively, being resourceful, and identifying ways to drive efficiencies in the contract life cycle workflowExperience with business and legal operations systems such as IronCladA great sense of humor and a customer service mindset; andA Juris Doctorate degree from a U.S. accredited law schoolLicense to practice law in the State of California or TexasBenefitsRoku is committed to offering a diverse range of benefits as part of our compensation package to support our employees and their families.
