SUMMARY The purpose of this role is to oversee the physical construction of the assigned project(s) with minimal or no day-to-day oversight; and ensure project is delivered with a high level of quality, profitability and by meeting or exceeding the construction schedule. This role manages all or part of the construction process and supports the efforts of the more experienced field staff. Depending on the project size and challenges the Field Engineer may be responsible for various scopes of work. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESAssist the Superintendent in all phases and aspects of the project(s).Provide support to Project Management Staff.Understand and implement the field Best Practices, guidelines and programs in the daily activities.Assist in managing and documenting all day-to-day job site activities including OSHA safety compliance.Direct field personnel according to the project plan and/or the direction of the Superintendent.Communicate issues, events, performance and job progress daily to the SuperintendentReport problems promptly to the Superintendent to facilitate the most cost-effective solutions.Establish effective working relationships with clients.Request advice and assistance from the Superintendent and/or Project Manager on matters pertaining to materials, sequencing, scheduling and personnel. WORK DELIVERABLES: The results that are expected from a top performing Field Engineer. Project Set Up: Ensure that proper tools are in place prior to the beginning of a project.Review Owner contract and become familiar with terms & conditions.Review drawings and specifications to become completely familiar with the project.Provide input regarding the quality, reliability, appropriateness, etc. of subs included on bid list.Identify pre-mobilization activities in conjunction with the Project Superintendent.Review start-up schedule with superintendent and understand your responsibilities. *CORE VALUE - High Performance - Plan effectively and Finish Well: Help to mobilize the field office and maintain the job site to Company standards.Organize all project documentation at the job site for easy access and review.Manage subcontractor performance to quality and ethical standards.Work with Superintendent to identify and resolve manpower issues and construction changes/issues.Work with the superintendent to Update Project Schedule.Assist the superintendent with the weekly development of the 2-week, short interval schedules.Produce Phasing / Logistics plans with in conjunction with PM and/or SPM.Complete daily reports and maintains logs of key activities, files and shop drawings.Continually take job photos to document progress of the project.Inventory the quality and condition of all material deliveries.Maintain required safety reporting and all other required files to Company standards.Ensure that as-built working drawings are maintained as well as the current drawing log and revision log, communicating this to the subcontractors.Attend project turnover, mobilization project coordination, and pre-installation meetings when available.Attend safety pre-construction meetings.Attend weekly foreman, and safety meetings.Attend monthly schedule review meetings.Review project logs (RFI's, Submittals, PCO's) with PM on a weekly basicsIn conjunction with PM/PE distribute all punch lists and the follow-up as necessary to ensure timely completion of punch list work.Assist the superintendent in setting up and participating in the owner's training sessions.Assist in the assembly of all as-built drawings and O & M manuals. Self Development: Drive self to continue developing professionally.Actively participate in all company-wide training and development initiatives, as well as meetings, and business line and company-wide initiatives to support and further company goals. Relationship Management: Develop critical relationships.Maintain client relationships at the appropriate level reinforcing Blum's commitment to continuously addressing their needs and interests.Work collaboratively with outside parties (I.e. the design team, etc.) to accomplish client goals.Demonstrate effective relationship building within the project team and throughout Blum. Keep field team members informed.Promote positive subcontractor relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors. Safety: Ensure everyone is safe.Track/Log subcontractors participation in a safety pre-construction meeting prior to starting work on the project.Track/log that all subcontractors have a full set of MSDS sheets on the projectTrack/Log subcontractor site specific safety plan.Track/Log current insurance certificate prior to allowing any sub to start work on the project.Regularly reviews the site with the Superintendent and the Foreman for complianceto the project safety plan.Has zero tolerance for unsafe work practices and addresses the issue immediately.
