Software Engineer - Contractor
About AIM+
AIM+ is the technology platform of AIM Sports Group, a subscription product powering athletes, coaches, and club directors across youth sports. AIM+ gives athletes a place to compete and get recruited. We're growing fast and building the infrastructure that makes that possible.
The Role
We're looking for a contract Software Engineer to build and ship across the AIM+ platform. You'll work directly with the founding team on product features, performance improvements, and integrations that directly affect our subscribers. This is a hands-on engineering role with real ownership and you\'ll see your work in production immediately.
Our first major deliverable together is a significant platform release this fall on a fixed timeline, so we need someone who can start soon and ship fast.
The right person ships fast, writes clean code, and uses AI coding tools natively as part of their workflow. We\'re not looking for someone who will \"try\" AI tools. We\'re looking for someone who already codes that way.
What You\'ll Work On
Build and ship a major platform release this fall, spanning subscription and video features, on a fixed timeline
Own the search-to-conversion funnel: player search, team search, athlete profiles, paywall, and checkout experience
Build and maintain subscription billing: plans, plan changes, webhooks, and checkout flows
Instrument conversion tracking and key events across the funnel (GA4, Stripe webhooks)
Integrate and abstract third-party video and stats provider APIs so the platform is never coupled to a single vendor
Contribute to athlete discovery and recruiting features on the roadmap
Improve platform performance, reliability, and scalability, and contribute to API design and data architecture decisions
What We\'re Looking For
Required
3–5 years of professional software engineering experience
Strong proficiency in Laravel (PHP), our core stack
Hands-on Stripe experience: subscription billing logic, webhooks, and checkout
Demonstrated use of AI coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, etc.) as a native part of your workflow
Experience with relational databases (MySQL / PostgreSQL)
Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving, async-first environment
Able to start quickly and commit through a fall release cycle
US-based
Nice to Have
Background in sports tech, competitive volleyball, consumer SaaS, or marketplaces
Familiarity with sports data, video streaming, or athlete management platforms
Experience with analytics instrumentation (GA4, event tracking)
Experience working with small founding teams or early-stage products
How We Work
This is a contract engagement with potential to extend. You\'ll work closely with a small, senior team. Scope and cadence are defined collaboratively. We move fast and expect the same. If you thrive in environments where you own your work end-to-end and ship regularly, this is for you.
