Handyman (Part-Time)

DescriptionCommunity Options, Inc.is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.We are in search of an experienced Part-Time Handymanin Lubbock, TX. The Maintenance Technician maintains residential homes, facilities, and vehicles. This person isresponsible for repairing issues that arise, completing regular maintenance plans, and working with local management to contract external contractors.Pay Based on ExperienceMust have own transportation and toolsResponsibilitiesDevelop a schedule of basic maintenance tasksComplete required maintenance tasks in a timely mannerEnsure repairs are made timely in a way that is safe and in compliance with the local laws and regulationsInstall, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and structural components including appliances, fans, lights, flooring, carpets, paneling, doors, etc.Perform basic maintenance tasks including painting, spackling, and basic electrical or plumbing workAdvise management when an outside contractor may be necessaryReview contractor estimates to ensure they accurately reflect the required repairs and reasonable job costsFollow OSHA guidelines for safety and the proper handling of toolsEmployees must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigationAdditional tasks and responsibilities may be assignedEmployment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testingMinimum RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED with three years of maintenance experienceValid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving recordComplete all state and agency required training per state guidelinesAbility to work safely with hands and power toolsExperience with problem solving against multiple prioritiesAbility to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situationsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent time management skillsWorking ConditionsFrequent lifting, stretching, and other physical exertion may be requiredMay be required to utilize own vehicle or company provided vehiclesMay be required to lift or move 25+ poundsMay be exposed to various medical conditions and communicable diseasesCommunity Options is an Equal Opportunity EmployerM/F/D/V#IND-LU
