The para educator will be involved in providing an educational program and environment which promotes developmentally appropriate learning and personal growth to assist students in fulfilling their academic potential.OPEN UNTIL FILLEDScreening for minimum qualifications and district screening will be conducted on a rolling basis until 5/18/2026 and may be extended to ensure a robust and competitive applicant pool.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSAssist individual students and small groups of students through instructional activities which have been planned, assigned and organized by the professional staff. Examples of this would be:assist in independent study in the classroom or learning center;listening to students read:drill in reading, mathematics, spelling, etc.Assist individual students with special needs which have been identified by the professional staff. Examples of this would be, transitioning between locations; and carrying out interventions for which training has been provided;Assist the teacher in preparation, maintenance, assembling and returning of instructional materials and instructional aides for identified students.Assist in securing, preparing and operating instructional media as directed by the professional staff for identified students.Assist in gathering materials relevant for use in units, or topics of study as directed by the professional staff for identified students.Assist in scoring of non-confidential and other objective exercises where qualitative judgement is not required; collecting and organizing data and information as directed for identified students.Assist in preparation of schedules, charts, and rosters for students being served.Assist in recording grades and related information for students being served by aides as directed by the professional staff.Assist in maintaining various files as directed by the professional staff for identified students.Assist in the preparation, distribution and collection of forms needed by the professional staff for identified students.Assist in the movement of children as is necessary within the school building, on the school grounds or on field trips.Assist in the supervision of students in a classroom or learning center.Assist in the supervision of the school lunch program and further assist students in recreational and/or independent study periods during the lunch hour or recess.Responsible for supervision of children on the playground and in bus lines.Perform such other duties as requested by the classroom teacher and/or administrator.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSCandidates must possess a High School Diploma or GEDAA degree or higher or two years of study at an institution of higher education or complete and pass the State ESEA (Elementary & Secondary Education Act) Assessment Test for Para educators.
