CNC Machinist

Brad Foote Gear Works is searching for a Manual Turning Machinist to join our team in Cicero, IL. This position will be responsible for performing complex close tolerance operations in turning, facing, boring, chamfering recessing and form turning on a wide variety of production parts. This position will set up and operate engine lathes, turret lathes or vertical boring mills.RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCheck the Route Sheet, blueprint, and sketch for the operation and instructions and install piece/part into machineMeasure rough material and divide stock to ensure 100% clean up and check run out part in machineTurn the first side per blueprint and Route Sheet instructions. Check all dimensions, remove the piece part from the machine, and make size correctionsFollow the bar-coding proceedures per the SOPs, operate YOUJI VTL, Hofler gear hob/gasher or equivalent plus ancillary equip., true up the outside diameter to run true within specDeburr, stamp, inspect and package the parts produced in the cellInform supervisor or lead for assisted setups when operation may require indication and alignmentStamp parts per SOP, follow bar-coding procedures per SOP499Read and understand drawings of product, and understand all written work instructionsAll other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSAcademic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications* High School diploma or equivalent education* At least (3) years of experience with the functions of the machines and to operate them competently and efficiently preferredSpecialized Skills/Knowledge/AbilityUse shop mathematics, micrometers, and measuring instrumentsWork from blueprints, sketches, route sheets and verbal ordersProvide necessary hand tools, and measuring instrumentsAble to use company gaugingLanguage Skills:Ability to read and comprehend documents including technical information. Ability to speak effectively with vendors and as a representative of the Company.Mathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Strong ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
