This is a unique opportunity to provide exceptional care to our veterans while engaging in leadership, process improvement, and professional development.In this role, you'll have the chance to lead initiatives, contribute to continuous process enhancements, and play a vital role in the education and development of students and residents.If you're committed to excellence in emergency medicine and making a positive impact on those who served, we want to hear from you!DutiesProvides comprehensive clinical care, including assessments, diagnostics, and treatment, collaborating with team members to ensure quality, compliance, and patient safety.Performs evaluations, orders tests, and makes treatment decisions in line with policies and guidelines.RequirementsDegree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.Hold a full, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. StateCompletion of an accredited residency in a core specialty.U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be considered when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA policy.Preferred ExperienceBoard Certified/Eligible in Emergency MedicineBoard Certified in Family or Internal Medicine with emergency department experience.About our BenefitsEDRP Authorized:a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible.Salary:$255,000-$350,000Salary:Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases.Paid Time Off:50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays, and up to 5 days for CME).Retirement:Federal pension (5 years vesting) and a 401(k) plan with up to 5% VA contributions.Insurance:Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care (many can be carried into retirement).Licensure:One full, unrestricted license from any U.S. State or territory.CME:Up to $1,000 annually for full-time physicians with board certification.Malpractice:Free liability protection with tail coverage.Contract:No physician employment contract or significant restrictions on moonlighting.Schedule:Compressed tour: Six 12-hour shifts, and one 8-hour shift per pay period.Call Coverage:NoneAcademic Affiliation:Opportunity for appt at VCOM and ELON University.
