We use those insights to develop intelligent workflows that combine legal content, retrieval, analytics, and generative AI.Our work includes building workflows that help users: Analyze complaints, briefs, motions, and other litigation documentsIdentify key facts, legal issues, claims, arguments, and timelinesResearch relevant cases, statutes, dockets, and legal authoritiesCompare documents and legal argumentsGenerate summaries, insights, and structured analysis grounded in authoritative legal contentAutomate repetitive parts of legal research and document reviewIn addition to developing AI-powered workflows, the team builds systems that enrich legal documents, particularly court opinions. Examples of these enrichments include:Identifying and analyzing citations to cases, statutes, regulations, and other authoritiesDetermining the treatment and context of cited authoritiesMeasuring the strength and depth of a court’s discussion of statutes and legal issuesIdentifying important facts, legal principles, holdings, and procedural informationProducing structured metadata that improves search, retrieval, analytics, and downstream AI applicationsThe team develops services and applications using Java, Python, relational databases, distributed systems, and modern AI technologies. Our applications run within Bloomberg’s production infrastructure and support reliable, scalable, and secure client-facing experiences.We’ll Trust You ToDesign, develop, test, and maintain reliable software applications and servicesIntegrate applications with search platforms, databases.Contribute to the design of scalable, fault-tolerant, and maintainable distributed systemsWrite clean, well-tested, and production-ready codeParticipate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture decisionsInvestigate production issues and improve system monitoring, reliability, and performanceCollaborate with engineers to reuse common platforms, services, and engineering standardsYou’ll Need To HaveAt least 3 years of professional software development experience using Java and SpringAt least 3 years of experience working with relational databases, including PostgreSQL or OracleExperience writing SQL and designing or working with relational data modelsExperience building and supporting production software applications or servicesUnderstanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programmingExperience developing APIs or integrating with service-based architecturesFamiliarity with automated testing, debugging, and production supportStrong communication and collaboration skillsA Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent professional experienceWe’d Love To SeeExperience using AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, code review, debugging, and documentation.Experience with Java and Spring BootExperience developing Python-based data processing, machine learning, or AI applicationsExperience working with search engines, document retrieval systems, or content-processing pipelinesExperience designing scalable, distributed, and fault-tolerant systemsExperience building systems that process large volumes of structured or unstructured documentsA strong commitment to automated testing, code quality, and operational excellence
