Electrical Engineer
Overview
As an Electrical Engineer in HDR’s Building Engineering Services, you design electrical systems for high-profile facilities and data centers, collaborating across disciplines to deliver integrated, high-performance solutions. You’ll contribute from concept through construction, shaping infrastructure that supports technology and sustainability. The role blends design excellence with field verification and construction administration in a culture that values collaboration and employee ownership. You will mentor junior engineers and help lead cross-market projects across data centers, federal, industrial, and commercial sectors.
ResponsibilitiesProvide detailed electrical design and coordination for facilities with the project teamCreate construction documents using BIM/CADD platformsEdit and prepare design specifications and perform calculationsRespond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and conduct site investigationsPerform QA/QC of construction documents and technical reportsSelect equipment using vendor software and communicate with sales repsTrack design budgets and perform load calculationsLead design meetings and provide construction administration across all construction phasesVisit project sites to monitor progress and prepare field observation reportsConduct field verification of existing conditions as required
Key requirementsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with Electrical emphasisExperience in electrical design of buildings (lighting, power, systems)Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) licenseStrong CAD/REVIT skills (AutoCAD, Revit) and familiarity with SKM, AGI, Easy PowerCommitment to employee-owned culture and collaborationProven ability to coordinate with clients, architects, and other disciplinesleadershipmentoringeffective communicationAutoCADRevitSKM
