Electrical Engineer
Overview
In this role you will lead electrical system design for critical building infrastructures and power systems in a multidisciplinary firm. You will work closely with mechanical, architectural, and other teams to ensure compliant, safe, and reliable electrical design. You will analyze loads, perform calculations, and develop design documentation to support project execution. The position offers exposure to healthcare, higher education, and institutional facilities, with opportunities for mentorship and career growth.

ResponsibilitiesLead electrical system design for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage infrastructureDevelop load calculations, panel schedules, one-line diagrams, and equipment layouts using Revit and Design MasterPerform voltage drop, fault current, and load calculations using Design Master or SKMCoordinate utility service requirements, transformer sizing, and metering needsPrepare Basis of Design documents, system narratives, and technical specificationsCollaborate with mechanical, architectural, structural, plumbing, and low-voltage teamsParticipate in client meetings, design reviews, and coordination sessionsSupport project managers with scope development, scheduling, and client communicationPerform QA/QC on drawings, models, and calculationsConduct field visits for construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, and punch listsMentor and support junior engineering staff
Key requirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering8+ years of electrical engineering experience in professional servicesProfessional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain within 1–2 yearsProficient in Revit (5+ years) with experience using Design Master Electrical or SKM PowerToolsStrong understanding of NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, and state building codesExperience designing normal and emergency power systems, switchboards, panelboards, feeders, transformers, grounding, lighting, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage pathwaysAbility to perform voltage drop, load, and fault current calculationsExperience coordinating with utility companies; knowledge of solar/renewable systems a plusStrong communication and technical writing skillsAbility to manage multiple projects independentlyExperience in healthcare, higher education, federal, government, or institutional facilities is preferredStrong communication skillsTechnical writingAbility to manage multiple projects independentlyRevitDesign Master ElectricalSKM PowerTools
