The WAVE Student Support paraprofessional supports the paraprofessional staff in implementing individual student education plans and positive behavioral support services/programs for students with emotional and/or behavioral disorders. The position involves assisting teacher consultants, classroom teachers and teaching teams with any and all of the students in the classroom/program, under the teacher's or case manager's direction. You will work collaboratively in a blended, project based learning educational setting with a presence in our face to face lab with students guiding them in developing and completing curriculum projects that meet Michigan content expectations. In addition, collaboration will take place on a regular basis with other instructional staff. REPORTS TO: WAVE Program Director and teacher consultant teamESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Work collaboratively with teachers to instruct, supervise, and support students in the learning spacesCollects information on and summarizes student progress toward achievement of IEP goals/objectives under the direction of case manager.Assists in the development, maintenance and adaptation of instructional materials under the direction of classroom teachers and case managers.Develop positive and friendly rapport and communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, district leaders, and community membersProvide educational information to parents and families, and community agenciesAny other duties delegated by the Program DirectorWork one-on-one or in small groups with at-risk high school students.Provide instruction and support in various subjects and assist students as needed.Assist other staff in scheduling and advertising course support services and special events.Help maintain the learning space (i.e., pick up used paper, put away inventory, etc.).Attend required meetings, training, and participate in professional development.Provide assistance during orientation days (depending on arranged schedule).Guide students in the use of software applications.Identify the interests and talents of the students to develop contexts in which they can expand their skills.Encourage students to contribute to online learning communities.Regular and predictable attendance.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Up to 30 hours per week, with some flexibility in hours.PAY: $18+/hour based on certification and experience, Hiring and pay through Edustaff.SCHEDULE: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:30 am - 3:30 pm and Wednesdays 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, with some flexibility based on needsPosition Starting Date: As soon as possibleContact: WAVE Program Director - Sarah Giddings - sgiddings@weocflex.orgApplication Procedure: Email Sarah Giddings sgiddings@weocflex.org a resume and letter of interest.
