Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown/MedSurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) ACLS Must-Have: Stepdown experience Ability to titrate drips Description: The unit has a 50-mile radius rule. All submissions must include a copy of the candidate's unexpired driver's license. The unit has a total of 20 beds. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:3 in stepdown and 1:5-6 on the floor. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory issues, weakness, urinary tract infections, acute kidney injury, and chest pain. Nurses are required to titrate drips, including Heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone. There is a house supervisor present on the unit. Nurse aids are available on this unit with a ratio of 2 per shift. Respiratory therapy equipment available includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen. The unit is equipped with telemetry monitoring. RNs are responsible for reading strips. Weekends require 3 shifts every 4-week schedule. Holiday coverage is rotated, either evening or day shifts. There is no call or standby requirement. There are no floating requirements. The dress code consists of royal blue scrubs. Unit-specific orientation is provided. The cancellation policy states that up to 2 shifts may be canceled per 13-week assignment. The charting system utilized is EPIC. BSN is not required.
