Senior Buyer - Manufacturing & Supply Chain

Join a precision manufacturing team where supplier strategy, cost control, and smart procurement decisions directly impact production and performance.About the RoleThe Senior Buyer leads purchasing activities for a precision manufacturing environment, ensuring materials, services, and supplies are sourced at the right cost, quality, and time. This role goes beyond transactional purchasing — it focuses on supplier relationships, cost‑of‑ownership analysis, forecasting, and proactive risk management to support production and margin goals.The Senior Buyer works closely with internal teams and external suppliers to anticipate needs, manage inventory flow, and resolve issues before they impact operations.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage supplier relationships, including identifying and onboarding new suppliers to improve supply continuity and competitivenessSolicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements to achieve the lowest total cost of ownership while balancing quality, delivery, and reliabilityAnalyze supplier performance, including pricing trends, on‑time delivery, and quality metrics, and communicate findings to drive improvementsEvaluate the impact of supplier price increases on product margins, including raw material, labor, and transportation cost driversProactively identify and mitigate financial and supply‑chain risk related to pricing volatility or disruptionsCollaborate cross‑functionally to understand departmental needs, anticipate shortages, and maintain appropriate inventory levelsReview and process purchase requisitions, convert approvals into purchase orders, and track open items to receiptSupport production through customer demand forecasting, blanket purchase orders, and proactive buying strategiesPartner with internal stakeholders to ensure system accuracy related to purchasing transactionsWork directly with suppliers to expedite deliveries and resolve invoice, shipping, or order discrepanciesRequired Qualifications5+ years of purchasing or supply‑chain experience in a manufacturing or machining environmentProven experience negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationshipsStrong analytical skills with the ability to assess pricing, cost drivers, and margin impactAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced production settingStrong communication and collaboration skillsCass Precision Machining is a values-based organization.
