Senior Financial Writer
The Marketing team at The Haverford Trust Company is responsible for developing andexecuting strategic marketing initiatives that enhance the firm’s brand, attract and retain clients, and support overall business growth.We are seeking a skilled Senior Financial Writer to join our marketing team to strengthencontent marketing. This role is the intellectual engine of our marketing department, responsible for translating complex financial subject matter into compelling, client-ready content that differentiates our firm in the marketplace. You will work directly with our investment management, research, wealth planning, trust, and banking teams to source, write, and distribute thought leadership content across all channels. This is a high-visibility role with direct access to senior leadership and subject matter experts across the firm.As Senior Financial Writer, you report to and partner closely with the VP, Director of ClientExperience Marketing. The right candidate combines strong financial writing ability witheditorial discipline, compliance awareness, and genuine enthusiasm for making complex ideas accessible to sophisticated audiences.ESSENTIAL DUTIESThought Leadership & Content Production• Assist in developing communications plans, write and edit the firm's flagship content:quarterly investment outlooks, weekly market commentaries, white papers, estateplanning guides, tax planning briefs, and charitable giving resources.• Interview portfolio managers, wealth planners, trust officers, and research to sourceexpert insights and translate them into client-accessible language.• Manage the annual editorial calendar across all platforms, including web, email, podcast,and social, ensuring a consistent pipeline of content aligned to financial market events,firm priorities, and business development goals.• Produce advisor-ready content briefs and "leave-behind" summaries that advisors can usedirectly in client and prospect meetings.• Use Microsoft Copilot to draft content, then edit for brand voice, accuracy, andcompliance readiness.• Coordinate with the Marketing Director on content distribution strategy: ensuring theright content reaches the right audience on the right channel.Cross-Functional SME Collaboration• Serve as the primary marketing liaison to Research, Wealth Planning, Trust, andBanking teams for content sourcing and co-production.• Facilitate quarterly content planning meetings with each SME team to build theeditorial calendar and identify thought leadership opportunities.• Support RFP / Proposals with narrative writing and capability statementdevelopment, deploying RFP agent in Copilot and managing the training of thatagent.• Develop new language for RFP responses as needed and update knowledge librarywith that updated information.• Collaborate with Marketing Communications Officer on the project management ofRFP responses to ensure the correct resources are available and allocated to ensuretimely, accurate, and compliant submissions.Social Media & Digital Content• Own the social media content calendar, targeting a minimum of three LinkedIn posts perweek.• Use Microsoft Copilot to draft social media content in batch, then edit for brand voice,accuracy, and compliance readiness.• Write and edit all email marketing copy: client newsletters, prospect nurture sequences,event invitations, and internal announcements. Partner with graphic designer for images.• Produce website copy updates, blog posts, and landing page content.• Monitor social media performance and engagement; produce monthly social analyticsreports.Website & SharePoint Ownership• Manage all website content updates, page creation, and CMS governance; ensure contentis current, accurate, compliant, and consistently on-brand.• Own SharePoint as the firm's internal communications hub; build and maintain pages,document libraries, and department microsites for internal use.Email Marketing & Campaigns• Manage content for the email marketing platform (SugarMarket) and events marketingplatform (Cvent); deploy all firm email campaigns including client newsletters, eventinvitations, and prospect nurture sequences.• Build and manage email lists in coordination with the Director of Client Experience;ensure list hygiene, segmentation accuracy, and CRM data integrity.• Track and report email performance metrics: open rates, click-through rates,unsubscribes, and conversion activity.Compliance & Editorial Standards• Submit all external-facing content through the firm's compliance review workflow priorto publication; maintain accurate records of approved materials.• Maintain the firm's tone-of-voice guide, editorial standards documentation, and preapproved content library.• Stay current on SEC Marketing Rule requirements and FINRA content standards as theyapply to investment adviser marketing communications.Physical RequirementsMobility: Ability to walk various distances to attend client meetings and eventsStamina: Capability to stand for extended periods during eventsDesk Work: Ability to sit at a desk for long periods while performing tasks, largely on a computerLifting: Must be able to bend or lift objects weighing up to 30 poundsDriving: Ability to drive a motor vehicle to various locations, especially if meetings and events are held off-siteQUALIFICATIONSRequired Education / Experience• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Finance, Marketing, or arelated field.• Four (4) to seven (7) years of professional writing experience• Minimum two (2) years in financial services, wealth management, investmentmanagement, or a related regulated industry.Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities• Demonstrated ability to write clearly and compellingly about complex financial topicsincluding investment strategy, estate planning, tax planning, and wealth management.Samples will be requested and a writing test will be conducted for final evaluation.• Experience managing an editorial calendar and producing content across multiple formats(long-form, short-form, social, email).• Working knowledge of SEC and FINRA content requirements for investment advisercommunications.• Proficiency with Microsoft Copilot or equivalent AI writing tools; commitment to AI -assisted workflows as a standard productivity practice.• Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple content projectssimultaneously under tight deadlines.• Model the firm’s values of Quality, Integrity, Respect, Discipline, Community, andOptimism.• Build trusting, long-term relationships with clients and business partners.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; creative and innovative solutions.• Excellent organizational and time management skills and superior attention to detail.• Collaborate effectively within your own team and across other teams to achieve goals.• Exceptional verbal skills and client relationship skills with an emphasis on five-star,value-added service.• Excellent written communication skills, including precise editing.• Strong, persuasive presentation and public speaking skills.• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and software programs.Preferred Qualifications• Experience with a registered investment adviser (RIA), bank trust department, broker dealer,or family office marketing team.• Familiarity with CMS platforms, CRM, email marketing tools, and basic SEO principles.• Experience building and maintaining a pre-approved content library for advisor use.The Haverford Trust Company shall, in its discretion, modify or adjust the position to meet the company’s changing needs.
