Japanese Non-Tenure Track Faculty (Applicant Pool)

Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide high-quality instruction and to perform related academic duties as needed. Instructional assignments are contingent upon departmental needs and the availability of funding.Applications are accepted on a continual basis (unless otherwise indicated) and will be maintained in the pool for up to two years. After two years, candidates will be notified to resubmit their application materials for continued consideration.Application materials will be reviewed by the appropriate search committee or hiring authority, and applicants will be notified if they are being considered for an open position.Non-tenure-track appointments may be part-time or full-time and vary in duration depending on the specific needs of the department or program. Salary is dependent on the number of courses taught and the duration of the appointment.Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstructors typically teach 1 to 5 language classes per semester.All positions are pending adequate enrollment and funding.Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & SkillsA Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a Foreign University; andA Master's degree or equivalent from a Foreign University in Japanese or a closely related field, or relevant knowledge and experience appropriate to the position (e.g., superior level proficiency; extensive residence abroad, etc.); andProficiency level in Japanese appropriate to the position.Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & SkillsPhD in Japanese or other relevant discipline.Superior level proficiency in Japanese.Experience teaching at the college level.The Successful Candidate WillHave effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate successfully and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.Position Special Requirements/Additional InformationThe position for which you have applied MAY BE a Union position. Union affiliation is determined by job duties and the collective bargaining unit.Non-Tenure Track Faculty - Any position that is .5 FTE or more is represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University (AFMSU). Faculty covered by AFMSU may choose to pay membership dues. This is a condition of employment. Students may major or minor in Asian Studies, French & Francophone Studies, German Studies, Hispanic Studies, and Latin American & Latino Studies.
