Independent abortion providers like WWHA provide over 60% of abortions in the United States and are committed to ensuring abortion care remains accessible despite increasing barriers. Opportunity Whole Woman's Health Alliance seeks an experienced Fractional Development Director to provide strategic and hands-on fundraising leadership during a critical phase of organizational growth and transition. This contract role is designed for an experienced fundraising professional who can immediately step into both strategy and execution, helping stabilize and strengthen WWHA's fundraising function while building sustainable systems for long-term success. WWHA operates with an annual budget of approximately $5.5 million and supports programming and abortion care access across multiple states. The ideal consultant will bring a strong track record in nonprofit fundraising and a practical, roll-up-your-sleeves approach. Scope of Work The Fractional Development Director will: Fundraising Strategy & Revenue GrowthAssess and refine WWHA's current fundraising strategyDevelop and implement a 6-12 month fundraising roadmapIdentify immediate revenue opportunities across all funding streamsCreate realistic fundraising projections and benchmarks Major Gifts & Donor DevelopmentBuild and strengthen major donor cultivation and stewardship strategiesSupport donor identification, prospecting, and solicitation planningPartner with leadership on major donor engagement and asks Foundation & Grant StrategyReview and strengthen grant pipeline strategySupport grant prospecting, proposal development, and reporting systemsHelp optimize internal grant processes and systems Annual Giving & CampaignsStrengthen annual giving strategy and donor retention effortsEvaluate direct mail and digital fundraising opportunitiesDevelop fundraising messaging and donor appeals Development InfrastructureAssess current systems, workflows, and donor management practicesImprove development operations, tracking, and reportingSupport CRM optimization (Bloomerang preferred) Board & Leadership PartnershipSupport fundraising strategy with executive leadership and Board Development CommitteeStrengthen board engagement in fundraisingProvide regular fundraising reporting and strategic recommendations Preferred Qualifications Candidates should demonstrate:Minimum 5 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experienceProven success securing major gifts and foundation fundingStrong experience in donor cultivation, stewardship, and campaign strategyExcellent grant writing and fundraising communication skillsExperience building or rebuilding development systems and infrastructureAbility to work across multiple fundraising streams (major gifts, grants, annual fund, events, digital)Strong strategic planning and execution skillsAbility to work independently in a fast-paced, resource-conscious environmentCommitment to abortion access and reproductive justiceExperience in healthcare, reproductive health, or movement-based nonprofits strongly preferred Contract StructureContracted fractional engagement (15-25 hours/week anticipated; flexible based on proposal)Initial engagement: 3-6 monthsPotential for extension or long-term partnershipRemote work environmentTravel as needed (estimated 10-20%) Deliverables The selected consultant will be expected to deliver:30-day fundraising assessment90-day action planActive donor pipeline strategyStrengthened grants pipelineAnnual fundraising roadmapMonthly progress reports and fundraising metrics Compensation Competitive and commensurate with experience.
