Specialist - Communications

Support district communication through storytelling, event coverage, photography, video, writing, and content creation for the website, district newsletters, and social media platforms. Post stories, photos, videos, and events on the district website. Support graphic design needs including flyers, newsletters, and publications Qualifications: Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of social media networks and content creationDigital photography experience requiredAbility to interpret and integrate district content into multimedia formatsProficient writing experience requiredWriting, editing, and graphic design skills including flyer and newsletter productionAbility to meet deadlinesKnowledge of design software such as Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and CanvaAbility to translate concepts into visual materialsCommand of grammar, mechanics, proofreading, and editingProblem-solving, communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills Experience:One to three years professional experience preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties:Attend district and campus events to capture photos or videoWrite, edit, and publish stories, news, announcements, and emergency notifications for the website, district newsletters, social media, and multimedia formatsCreate content for social media, the district website, and newslettersDesign flyers, graphics, and visual materialsDesign, write, edit, and produce internal and external newslettersCollaborate with district departments to share accurate information with employees and the communityCoordinate content for district social media platformsSupport messaging needs for events and announcementsAssist with district events including dedication and recognition programsSupport projects and committees in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and CommunicationsParticipate in professional development through related organizationsPerform duties needed to support district communication and community services programs Supervisory Responsibilities: None Customer Care Skills:Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff and other professionals at all times.Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly. Take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of "going the extra mile" for others.Ensure all requests for information are dealt with in an appropriate timeframe.Create and maintain a welcoming, service-oriented environment toward all internal and external customers.
