Construction Project ManagerAs a member of the Construction Projects team, you will work with a group of elite engineers and specialists across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at the McGregor Rocket Development Facility as well as other SpaceX Facilities. This role is responsible for the design, build, and activation of infrastructure, facilities improvements, and large capital projects. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change in a fast-paced and low-drag environment. This includes owning tasks/projects from start to finish, to make the SpaceX campus a world-class facility that can support the mission of enabling life beyond Earth. This position is based in McGregor, Texas (Central Texas area).Responsibilities:Oversee and own the full lifecycle of multidiscipline construction projects to achieve on-time and under-budget delivery with customer satisfaction. The following project management responsibilities are applicable:Provide guidance and input on preliminary scope/customer requests, including rough order of magnitude (ROM) costsGather proposals from architects, engineers, vendors, or contractorsEvaluate competitive bids as appropriateReview proposals for accuracy, identify and track cost-saving suggestions or improvementsRecommend the best path of actionDevelop the final cost and schedule for the projectImplement controls as needed to track and manage cost, schedule, and scopeWrite and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-outFacilitate city, county, and regulatory approvalsResolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-timeManage the overall site safety and environmental requirements for contractorsTrack and approve invoicing of workProvide daily coordination to contractors working across the entire facility and coordinate critical path work to maintain project schedulesPlan construction activities with facility operators to avoid delays to facility operationsPerform daily inspection and verification of contractor's progress and observe critical operations to ensure qualityEnsure contractors follow site and OSHA safety standards while performing workResolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-timeManage night shift/early morning contractors as project work requiresBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management with 1+ years of experience working in the field on construction projects, or 5+ years of commercial construction experience will be considered in place of degreePreferred Skills and Experience:Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations; ability to mark up and highlight coordination items on plansProficiency in calculating percent grade, calculating volumes, and establishing and using site benchmarksExperience in performing topographic, construction staking, and as-builts using GPS and/or total station equipmentExperience installing civil infrastructure such utilities, and structural concrete.Ability to manage priorities and multiple projects at once with minimal guidance.Experience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor managementExperience in directing work in the field between trades and contractors.Experience in using AutoCAD or RevitAdditional Requirements:Ability to work at elevated heights (200+ feet)Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (up to 25lbs. unassisted)Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments heat, cold, rainWork performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noiseMust be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needs; flexibility requiredMust be able to climb ladders and work in tight spacesValid driver's licenseOccasional travel may be required to support projects at other sites (up to 15%)ITAR Requirements:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
