Inventory & Cost Accountant Manufacturing FacilityExperienced accountant with manufacturing cost accounting expertise and ERP knowledge. Manage inventory accounting, standard costs, variances, forecasting, and monthly journal entries for a manufacturing plant. On-site at the manufacturing facility. Full-time, immediate hire. Ensure accurate cost accounting, inventory controls, and financial reporting to support operational and corporate decision-making. Competitive, based on experience.
The Inventory & Cost Accountant serves as the primary financial representative at the plant, overseeing cost accounting, inventory accuracy, and manufacturing variance analysis. This role partners with plant leadership, materials, production, marketing, and corporate accounting to ensure proper controls, accurate standard costs, and reliable financial reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
Establish and maintain inventory and purchasing controls for accuracy
Audit Materials and Production Departments to ensure compliance with procedures
Review Bills of Materials and update standard costs for manufactured items
Record production activity and prepare journal entries for marketing and sales costs
Book monthly over/under absorbed labor and overhead entries
Review plant overhead and reclassify expenses as needed
Estimate material efficiencies, MUV, and PPV for weekly forecasts
Reconcile uninvoiced receipts and accruals; determine write-offs as necessary
Assist with quarterly cycle counts and annual budgeting
Prepare cost studies for new and updated products
Present financial results to plant leadership and corporate stakeholders
Provide support to the Multi-Site Controller as needed
Qualifications:
BS/BA degree in Accounting or related field
5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting and ERP systems (JDE experience preferred)
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other database applications
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred:
Advanced Excel and ERP reporting skills
Experience with standard cost modeling and variance analysis
Exposure to production and materials management processes
Work environment includes:
Office and production facility setting
Prolonged sitting and some bending, stooping, and lifting
Frequent interaction with plant leadership, corporate accounting, and materials/production teams
