Digital Accessible Document Specialist

Role DescriptionWe are seeking a Digital Accessible Document Specialist to support an enterprise‑wide digital accessibility initiative focused on ensuring websites, web applications, and digital services are fully accessible to individuals with disabilities. This role is central to achieving compliance with ADA-Title II, Section 508, and WCAG 2.1 AA standards.Responsibilities:Perform hands‑on accessibility testing, audits, remediation, and quality assurance of websites and web applications against WCAG 2.1 AA standardsConduct comprehensive accessibility audits and collaborate with development teams and vendors to resolve identified issuesIntegrate automated and manual accessibility testing into development and deployment workflowsReview vendor deliverables to ensure accessibility complianceEducate internal web teams on accessible design and development best practicesGuide and support enhancement of internal accessibility web‑scanning toolsIdentify, remediate, and validate digital documents (PDFs, forms, reports, spreadsheets) for WCAG 2.1 AA, PDF/UA, and Section 508 complianceQualifications3+ years of professional experience in web accessibility testing, auditing, and remediation in large‑scale or enterprise environmentsStrong knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA/AAA, WAI‑ARIA, Section 508, and ADA-Title IIProficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, with ability to recommend code‑level accessibility fixesHands‑on experience with accessibility tools such as axe DevTools, WAVE, Lighthouse, pa11yExperience using assistive technologies including JAWS and NVDAExperience supporting web accessibility efforts in government or public‑sector environmentsFamiliarity with WordPress accessibilityExperience integrating accessibility checks into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)IAAP WAS, DHS Trusted Tester, or equivalent certificationKnowledge of inclusive design principles and plain‑language content practices
