Speech Language and Hearing Pathologist Assistant (2026-2027)

Primary Purpose: Provide speech-language pathology services to students as directed by a supervising Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Responsibilities and Duties TherapyConduct speech, language and hearing screening as directed by the supervising licensed speech-language pathologist.Implement the treatment program or the individual education plan (IEP) as designed by the supervising licensed speech-language pathologist.Conduct carry-over activities to transfer a student's newly acquired communication ability to other contexts and situations.Represent speech pathology at the admission, review and dismissal (ARD) committee as directed by the supervising speech-language pathologist.Conduct observations and prepare clinical materials.Collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff and administrators to aid student progress. Student ManagementCreate an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for maturity level and interests of students.Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Program ManagementCompile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents required including maintaining clinical records in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities ManagementOrder necessary supplies and materials within allotted budget. School/Community RelationsProvides information and support to parents and familiesAssists in referrals to appropriate community agencies and specialists.Attendance at work is an essential function.Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE: QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree with intern or full Texas licensure as Speech-Language Pathology AssistantValid Texas driver's licenseEligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program Special Knowledge/Skills:Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of speech-language disorders and conditions OTHER INFORMATION: Working Conditions Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Ability to concentrate (detailed work), communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, read, coordinate district functions, compile, compute instruct, and maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds), walking within and surrounding campuses and homes, standing, sitting, climbing (stairs and ramps), hearing, speech, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, driving, travel (itinerate between campuses), outside and inside, microwaves, sunlight exposure, works around machinery with moving parts, works alone as well as with others.
