Speech Language and Hearing Pathologist (2026-2027)

Primary Purpose: To reduce or remediate communication deficits which interfere with the student's ability to derive full benefit from the district's educational program. RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional ManagementAssists staff in observing, describing, and referring suspected speech and language disorders.Participates in student study committee and placement committee decisions for students being considered for speech and language services as needed.Provides and/or interprets speech-language assessment data which leads to appropriate diagnosis.Provides appropriate speech-language therapy programs in a variety of settings designed to remediate specific student disorders.Assists administrators and support teaching personnel in interpreting program procedures.Maintains current knowledge of Federal and State Education laws and regulations including licensure regulations. School/Organizational ClimateCollaborates with classroom teachers, school staff and administrators to aid student progress. School/Organizational ImprovementAssists staff in the collection and maintenance of appropriate student records necessary for compliance and monitoring.Actively assists campus personnel in meeting campus action plan objectives. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities ManagementOrder necessary supplies and materials within allotted budget. Student ManagementManages test and therapy materials in a fiscally responsible manner.Assures student/parent information is handled in a confidential manner.Maintains accurate required student records. Professional Growth and DevelopmentMaintains membership and participates in professional organizations and/or updates professional skills through staff development activities.Maintains state licensure and ASHA certification.Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or superintendent School/Community RelationsProvides information and support to parents and familiesAssists in referrals to appropriate community agencies and specialists.Attendance at work is an essential function. EXPERIENCE: QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education/Certification:Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or universityValid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) or Bachelor's degree and valid Texas Education Agency speech therapy certificateValid Texas driver's licenseEligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program Special Knowledge/Skills:Skills in diagnosis of communication disordersSkills in development and implementation of therapy plans based upon identified needs OTHER INFORMATION: Working Conditions: Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Ability to concentrate (detailed work), communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, read, coordinate district functions, compile, compute instruct, and maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds), walking within and surrounding campuses and homes, standing, sitting, climbing (stairs and ramps), hearing, speech, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, driving, travel (itinerate between campuses), outside and inside, microwaves, sunlight exposure, works around machinery with moving parts, works alone as well as with others.
