Assistant EMS Education Program Director

Job Title Assistant EMS Education Program Director Purpose Responsible for assistant the Program Director with curriculum, instructors, students and other administrative responsibilities Key Responsibilities The Assistant EMS Education Program Director is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the EMS education program, including, but not limited to: Administration, organization, and supervision of the program Continuous quality review and improvement of the educational program Academic oversight, including curriculum planning and development Hiring, orientation/training and supervision of instructors CoAEMSP and DSHS compliance Networking with Fire and EMS agencies to maintain current relationships and expand future relationships Responsible for complying with TDSHS, CoAEMSP, Veteran’s Affairs, and Middle States Accreditation (pending) and Title IV funding (pending) Assists with curriculum sequence and schedule Interviews, hires and trains new instructors May be asked to record video lectures Assist with technology needs of the program such as installing new software or updating software licenses Serves as a backup Infection Control Officer Required Skills and Qualifications The Assistant EMS Education Program Director qualifications must include: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree Documented education or experience in instructional methodology Academic training and experience equivalent to that of a paramedic Experience in the delivery of pre-hospital emergency care Knowledge about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Standards, and about evidenced-informed clinical practice Licenses & Certifications Certification or licensure as a paramedic in Texas is required Certification by NREMT as a paramedic is preferred Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree for Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic from a regionally accredited institution of higher education A Master’s degree is preferred Appropriate medical or allied health education, training, and experience Field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care Knowledge of Methods of instruction, testing, and evaluation of students Current EMS national curricula, national accreditation, national registration, and state certification or licensure requirements Skills Administration, organization, and supervision of educational programs Continuous quality review and improvement of educational programs Long-range planning and development of educational programs Evaluation of program effectiveness and implementation of improvement systems Cooperative involvement with the Medical Director Quality assurance and control of delegated responsibilities Proficient in computer programs used to run the program or can quickly learn and adapt to new programs Ability to work cooperatively with EMS agencies, fire departments, clinical sites, and Texas State University personnel to keep the program running smoothly Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require reaching, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions Moderate Work: Lifting or moving up to 75 pounds, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Retention rates NREMT pass rates (within 3 attempts) Employment rates for paramedics Site visit results Survey results Tools and Resources Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Apple computers and tablets Learning Management System (LMS) (Moodle or similar) Zoom meeting software Daylite-Contact Record Management (CRM) SmartSheet iSimulate ECG monitors Video recording software and microphones EMS Medical equipment found on an ambulance When 2 Work Fisdap Dropbox Canva PandaDoc DocuSign Publisher websites and learning platforms Cell phone and apps Other A uniform is expected to be worn as a requirement of the position This is an in-person position Travel throughout Texas is a requirement of the position to teach and inspect locations Reliable transportation is required Relocation reimbursement is not offered PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Continuing Education Enrollment in formal or informal degree programs, courses, or workshops Pursuing certificates, accreditation or other credentials through educational programs Participation in professional organizations Attending local, regional, national, and international meetings, conferences and workshops sponsored by professional organizations Presenting talks at conferences and workshops Reporting Structure Reports to the Program Director Works with the Medical Director Works with the Advisory Board Employment Terms Full-Time, Exempt 12-month renewal contract Job Type: Full-time Pay: $75,000.00 -
