Assistant EMS Education Program Director
Purpose
Responsible for assistant the Program Director with curriculum, instructors, students and other administrative responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant EMS Education Program Director is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the EMS education program, including, but not limited to:
Administration, organization, and supervision of the program
Continuous quality review and improvement of the educational program
Academic oversight, including curriculum planning and development
Hiring, orientation/training and supervision of instructors
CoAEMSP and DSHS compliance
Networking with Fire and EMS agencies to maintain current relationships and expand future relationships
Responsible for complying with TDSHS, CoAEMSP, Veteran’s Affairs, and Middle States Accreditation (pending) and Title IV funding (pending)
Assists with curriculum sequence and schedule
Interviews, hires and trains new instructors
May be asked to record video lectures
Assist with technology needs of the program such as installing new software or updating software licenses
Serves as a backup Infection Control Officer
Required Skills and Qualifications
The Assistant EMS Education Program Director qualifications must include:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
Documented education or experience in instructional methodology
Academic training and experience equivalent to that of a paramedic
Experience in the delivery of pre-hospital emergency care
Knowledge about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Standards, and about evidenced-informed clinical practice
Licenses & Certifications
Certification or licensure as a paramedic in Texas is required
Certification by NREMT as a paramedic is preferred
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree for Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
A Master’s degree is preferred
Appropriate medical or allied health education, training, and experience
Field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care
Knowledge of
Methods of instruction, testing, and evaluation of students
Current EMS national curricula, national accreditation, national registration, and state certification or licensure requirements
Skills
Administration, organization, and supervision of educational programs
Continuous quality review and improvement of educational programs
Long-range planning and development of educational programs
Evaluation of program effectiveness and implementation of improvement systems
Cooperative involvement with the Medical Director
Quality assurance and control of delegated responsibilities
Proficient in computer programs used to run the program or can quickly learn and adapt to new programs
Ability to work cooperatively with EMS agencies, fire departments, clinical sites, and Texas State University personnel to keep the program running smoothly
Physical Requirements
