We're looking to build lasting relationships with experienced consultants who consistently deliver exceptional work, communicate effectively, and enjoy collaborating with a boutique agency on a variety of client engagements.Consulting EngagementIndependent contractor / consulting engagementRemoteProject-based and as-neededLong-term consulting opportunitiesOpen to United States and Australian-based consultants onlyIndividual consultants only — no staffing agencies, recruiters, development firms, or outsourcing companiesNon-exclusive relationship — you are free to work with other clientsFlexible schedule based on project deadlines and availabilityAbout the Consulting EngagementWe are looking to engage a skilled, freelance, full-stack WordPress Developer / Consultant to implement attractive, secure, and high-performing websites for our clients. You will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including the implementation of WordPress themes and plugins, custom development, integrations, performance optimization, website security, hosting configuration, analytics implementation, and ongoing website support.You should possess in-depth knowledge of modern front-end and back-end development, strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and an eye for clean, user-focused design.We value consultants who take ownership of their work, communicate proactively, and enjoy building long-term client relationships.ResponsibilitiesMeeting with clients to discuss website design and function.Designing and building the website front-end.Creating the website architecture.Designing and managing the website back-end including database and server integration.Identifying, evaluating, and recommending third-party WordPress themes and plugins.Developing WordPress themes, child themes, and plugins.Troubleshooting both technical and content issues.Monitoring the health and performance of the live website.Creating and archiving full website backups.Setting up hosting and DNS.Setting up website analytics and creating analytics reports.Required QualificationsMinimum five (5) years of professional WordPress development experience.Minimum five (5) years operating as an independent consultant, freelancer, or owner of a web development business serving multiple clients.Currently operating as an independent consultant, sole proprietor, LLC, or incorporated business providing web development services.Must have a proven track record delivering WordPress websites for multiple clients in a consulting capacity.Portfolio demonstrating successful WordPress projects.Project samples must be submitted for consideration.Knowledge of front-end technologies including CSS3, JavaScript, HTML5, and jQuery.Knowledge of back-end technologies including PHP, SQL, WP-CLI, and Bash.Knowledge of code versioning tools, specifically Git.Knowledge of website analytics tools including Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.Experience working with debugging tools such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug.Good understanding of website architecture, UX best practices, accessibility, SEO, and web aesthetics.Good understanding of WordPress architecture and APIs.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project managers and clients.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Nice to HaveExperience building Genesis child themes.Experience with the WP Engine hosting environment.Experience with Cloudflare DNS.Experience with Google's Looker Studio.Experience with a multi-environment development workflow (Development, Staging/UAT, Production).Experience using Basecamp project management.Enterprise-level web application development experience.Application RequirementsTo be considered, please include:Your résumé or LinkedIn profile.Links to 3–5 WordPress websites you personally developed or played a significant role in building.A brief description of your role for each project.Your typical hourly consulting rate or preferred pricing model.Your country of residence.Your general availability for new consulting engagements.Applications that do not include relevant WordPress project samples will not be considered.Who We're Looking ForWe're interested in building long-term relationships with professionals—not simply filling a single project.
