Job Description Position OverviewThe Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful delivery of public works construction projects, including K-12 schools, DSA-regulated developments, and municipal facilities, from preconstruction through closeout. This role oversees all aspects of project execution including budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and client communication.Projects are typically delivered in highly collaborative environments using methods such as design-build, lease-leaseback, and construction management, requiring strong leadership, proactive planning, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage public works projects from preconstruction through final completion.Oversee project budgets, cost control, forecasting, and overall financial performance.Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring alignment with milestones and regulatory requirements.Manage subcontractor buyouts, contracts, and scope coordination across all trades.Oversee project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and compliance tracking.Ensure projects meet all DSA, public works, and regulatory requirements, including inspections and documentation.Collaborate closely with Superintendents to ensure strong field execution and productivity.Lead coordination with owners, school districts, architects, and public agencies.Support preconstruction efforts including budgeting, value engineering, and constructability reviews.Identify risks and proactively implement solutions to maintain schedule, cost, and quality targets.Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication across all stakeholders.Oversee project closeout including punch lists, final documentation, and turnover.Qualifications8–15+ years of experience as a Project Manager with a general contractor.Strong experience managing DSA, K-12, or public works construction projects.Proven ability to manage projects from start to finish (full lifecycle).Deep understanding of construction processes, scheduling, and cost control.Experience coordinating with public agencies, inspectors, and regulatory bodies.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple projects or large, complex project scopes.Preferred QualificationsExperience with K-12 campus modernization, new school construction, or municipal facilities.Familiarity with delivery methods such as Lease-Leaseback, Design-Build, and CM at Risk.Knowledge of DSA processes, inspections, and documentation requirements.Proficiency with construction management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera (P6), or similar software.Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
