Life Safety Engineer (Green Card or US Citizen Only)BackgroundOur client is seeking a Life Safety Engineer to support the design, engineering, and implementation of life safety systems within complex facilities and infrastructure environments. This individual will support all phases of the project lifecycle while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and operational requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience designing fire alarm, gas detection, smoke detection, suppression, and life safety systems while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.ProjectThe engineer will support the design and engineering of fire alarm, smoke detection, VESDA, gas detection, toxic gas monitoring, leak detection, suppression, and smoke control systems. The role will involve producing construction documentation, coordinating with architects and engineers, interfacing with clients and code officials, reviewing vendor submittals, and supporting construction, commissioning, and startup activities throughout the project lifecycle.Required SkillsExperience designing life safety systems including fire alarm, smoke detection, suppression, gas detection, leak detection, and smoke control systemsKnowledge of applicable codes and standards including IBC, IFC, NFPA, NEC, and Life Safety CodesExperience performing calculations, equipment sizing, system layouts, specifications, and construction document developmentProficiency with AutoCAD and Revit MEPExperience developing and reviewing BIM modelsAbility to coordinate with architects, engineers, vendors, clients, and code officialsExperience reviewing vendor submittals and ensuring compliance with project requirementsStrong understanding of construction, commissioning, and startup support activitiesAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneouslyStrong communication and technical documentation skillsNice to HaveProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseExperience with additional NFPA standards including NFPA 13, NFPA 75, NFPA 76, NFPA 2001, and NFPA 400Familiarity with Edwards EST3 and EST4 Fire Alarm Control SystemsExperience reviewing vendor submittal packages against client requirements, specifications, and applicable codesExperience with gas detection systems, hazardous production material (HPM) systems, leak detection, smoke modeling, and fire dynamics analysisExperience with security systems, CCTV, access control, and other low-voltage systemsField experience supporting construction activities and coordinating with subcontractors, installers, and commissioning teamsExperience supporting semiconductor fabrication facilities, cleanrooms, advanced manufacturing environments, or mission-critical facilitiesExperience serving as Engineer of Record (EOR)Revit MEP and BIM coordination experience within multidisciplinary project teamsCommissioning, startup, and operational readiness support experience
