This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, enhancing safety performance, and fostering a culture focused on risk reduction and continuous improvement.This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on involvement and requires up to 60% nationwide travel.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & CultureProvide direction and mentorship to EHS Managers, Coordinators, and field personnel across multiple regionsDrive a proactive safety culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvementServe as the primary EHS resource for regional leadership and project teamsProgram ManagementDevelop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, and proceduresEnsure consistent application of safety plans, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation strategies across all projectsOversee safety planning for MEP and industrial construction activitiesRegulatory ComplianceMonitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and client-specific requirementsConduct audits, inspections, and compliance reviews; ensure timely resolution of findingsManage regulatory documentation, including OSHA logs, environmental reporting, and compliance recordsIncident ManagementLead incident investigations and root cause analysesImplement corrective actions and ensure lessons learned are communicated across teamsTrack safety metrics and KPIs to drive performance improvementsTraining & DevelopmentOversee safety training programs to ensure workforce competency and complianceMentor EHS staff and support their professional developmentPromote certification attainment and continuing educationContractor OversightEvaluate subcontractor safety performance and ensure compliance with company standardsReview safety plans, training records, and prequalification documentationEnforce accountability across multi-employer job sitesReporting & StrategyPrepare performance reports, dashboards, and metrics for executive leadershipSupport strategic planning and budgeting efforts related to EHS initiativesServe as a liaison with clients, regulators, and external auditorsRisk ManagementGuide risk assessments, hazard analyses, and planning for high-risk activitiesEnsure safety considerations are integrated into project design, planning, and commissioningQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field10+ years of progressive EHS experience in construction, industrial, or MEP environments5+ years of experience leading EHS teams across multiple projects or regionsStrong working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and DOT regulationsExperience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standardsProven success in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementationFamiliarity with contractor management and multi-employer job site oversightExperience with safety management systems, reporting tools, and KPI trackingStrong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skillsValid driver’s license and ability to travel regularlyPreferred CredentialsProfessional certifications such as CSP, CHST, ASP, CSHO, OHST, or STSOSHA 510 and OSHA 501 certificationsOSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (required)First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain)Experience driving company-wide safety culture initiativesCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experienceHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysOngoing training and leadership development opportunities
