Type: Full-Time (75 hours bi-weekly)Shift: DaysHours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PMPay: $160,000 - $172,000The Nurse Manager – PACU provides clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for PACU and AMSU Units. This role maintains accountability for the coordination and delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards governing PACU and AMSU services.The Nurse Manager fosters a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement through staff development, education, and role modeling. Utilizing their expertise, the Nurse Manager ensures seamless, coordinated care for patients as they move through the PACU and AMSU Units.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Operational LeadershipProvide leadership and oversight for all PACU operations, ensuring delivery of safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered careMaintain shift accountability and ensure continuity of care across PACU and AMSU settingsCollaborate with the broader care teamServe as a clinical resource and mentor to PACU and AMSU nursing and technical staffPatient Experience & Care CoordinationWork directly with the patient care team to identify, investigate, and resolve patient concerns and complaintsCommunicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient status, treatment plans, and outcomesPromote a patient-focused environment that supports dignity, safety, and cultural sensitivityStaff Leadership & DevelopmentPromote an atmosphere of collaboration, empowerment, accountability, and professional growthAssess, evaluate, and document staff competency, performance, and ongoing educational needsSupport recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and retention of PACU nursing and support staffEnsure adequate staffing coverage through effective scheduling and staffing pattern developmentQuality, Safety & Regulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, including state regulations and hospital policiesLead and participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activitiesMonitor and address quality indicators such as infection control, treatment adequacy, and adverse eventsResource & Performance ManagementManage human, financial, and material resources efficiently and responsiblyParticipate in budget planning, productivity monitoring, and cost-effective utilization of supplies and equipmentUtilize established conflict resolution techniques to address staff and operational issues constructivelyDrive performance improvement initiatives that enhance clinical outcomes and operational effectivenessRequirementsCurrent New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License requiredBachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferredMinimum of 3–5 years of progressive healthcare management experience, with PACU experience strongly preferredBLS, ACLS, PALS RequiredDemonstrated experience in PACU and AMSU settingsAbility to provide 24/7 responsibility, including answering staff calls as neededExperience working in a team-based, collective bargaining environment desirableWorking knowledge of PACU/AMSU-related regulatory and accreditation requirements Proven ability to develop staffing models, schedules, and coverage plansStrong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
