Who They AreWe have partnered with a 100+ year-old wholesale distributor of premium lumber to identify an Outside Sales Representative for their Northern NJ/NYC/Long Island territory. Our client firm has recently taken on two new product lines and is looking for a strong sales rep to build relationships at the dealer level and develop downstream demand at the builder/contractor level. The ideal candidate for this one will have 3+ years of documented success at a wholesaler or manufacturer in lumber or building products, with a strong preference for experience in appearance-grade lumber!What You'll DoCreate and support awareness and interest in the product lines at the dealer levelBuild dealer engagement with educational sessions, merchandising, quoting assistance, and on-call supportContractor/architect pull-through pipeline development, leveraging manufacturer sales rep effortsDiscover customer requirements and work with management to tailor programs to meet themAssist in feeding back opportunities in other product lines to inside repsSupport inside reps with other position-related tasks, as appropriateWhat You'll NeedExcellent listening skills and integrity-based sales postureExperience in similar role in building materials is requiredResults-oriented, driven, and able to be consistently productive without micromanagementExisting strong relationships with dealers strongly preferredFamiliarity with appearance-grade lumber and/or residential construction is strongly preferred
