Sustaining Engineer, Chassis Systems

Pay Rate: up to $86/hr on w2 (No C2C or 3rd parties)Location: fully onsite in Foster City, CAHelping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Sustaining Engineer - Chassis Systems to support key chassis subsystems across both the in-service fleet and vehicles in current production.In this role, you'll lead root cause investigations, develop corrective actions, and make subsystem-level technical decisions for steering, suspension, and braking systems. You'll guide changes through design, validation, release, and fleet implementation while prioritizing work based on safety, reliability, fleet uptime, and production impact.The ideal candidate has deep experience with chassis systems, sustaining engineering, and cross-functional problem-solving in fast-paced manufacturing or product development environments.As a Sustaining Engineer - Chassis Systems, you'll:Own sustaining engineering and corrective action development for chassis systems across the in-service fleet and current production vehicles, from root cause confirmation through fleet-wide implementation.Drive end-to-end resolution of field and manufacturing issues affecting steering, suspension, and braking systems.Use fleet and production data, including mean time between failures, repeat failure rates, and downtime drivers, to prioritize work and validate improvements.Lead design updates and system improvements that enhance safety, durability, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability.Author and manage engineering change requests and change actions.Develop and execute validation plans at the component, subsystem, system, and vehicle levels.Lead retrofit and rework campaigns and partner with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve reliability.Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, service, and operations teams to implement effective technical solutions.Travel occasionally, up to 10%.Requirements BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline (MS preferred)6-8 years of experience in chassis related systems within a product development, manufacturing, or sustaining environmentDemonstrated ability to deliver subsystem level corrective actions that improve reliability, durability, manufacturability, or serviceability in production vehiclesExperience with root cause analysis, DFMEA, and product and process validationStrong communication and documentation skills with the ability to work cross functionally in a fast paced environment while managing multiple prioritiesBonus Qualifications Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or EV systemsExperience with Design for Manufacturing and Design for Service (DFM/DFS), and Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologiesProficiency with 3D CAD tools, CATIA preferred, and familiarity with tools such as 3DX, DELMIA, SAP, JIRA, Confluence, or data analysis or visualization tools such as dashboards, SQL, and Python
