The successful candidate will serve as the senior legal advisor to executive leadership and the board, actively manage a significant litigation portfolio, provide legal guidance on anticipated transactions, and engage with banking regulators. This role demands a seasoned legal executive with a minimum of 15 years' experience, including prior General Counsel or equivalent senior legal leadership experience, particularly within the banking or financial services sector. The Interim General Counsel will be responsible for overseeing a small in-house legal team, ensuring continuity and stability, and must have a strong background in M&A, transactional matters, and litigation management. Applicants for the Interim General Counsel position at the company should possess a J.D. from an accredited law school and be an active member of the bar in at least one US jurisdiction. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record of stepping into high-pressure situations with sound judgment and composure, as well as the ability to engage credibly with regulators. Experience in BSA/AML issues and advising on corporate governance matters is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal oversight and be adept at managing large outside-counsel budgets.
