Project Manager – Dimensional Inspection Laboratory

Role Overview: • Title: Project Manager – Dimensional Inspection Laboratory Buildout • Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico 87545 (Onsite) • Duration: 12 Months About the Role: This position will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of a dimensional inspection laboratory buildout within an existing facility. The ideal candidate will manage a complex, multi-phase initiative requiring both technical expertise in dimensional inspection and strong project management capabilities. Key Responsibilities: • Lead end-to-end lab buildout from planning through commissioning • Define program objectives, scope, milestones, and deliverables • Manage schedule, budget, and quality expectations • Identify variances and implement corrective actions and recovery plans • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams • Engage and communicate with executive-level stakeholders Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or a related technical field • Proven experience in project management (planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout) • Background in dimensional inspection, metrology principles, or inspection lab environments • Experience managing budgets, schedules, and resources across multiple initiatives • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels Preferred Certifications & Qualifications: • PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification — strongly preferred • Advanced degree (Master's or higher) in engineering or physical sciences • Hands-on experience with dimensional inspection technologies: - CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines — fixed & portable) - Laser scanning - Optical / vision measurement systems - 3D / CT scanning - GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) interpretation • Experience in regulated, high-compliance environments (nuclear, aerospace, defense, or medical devices) • Familiarity with facility design, construction coordination, and equipment integration • Experience in beryllium-controlled or hazardous material environments • Knowledge of ISO / ASME inspection standards
