Working Concrete Foreman / Finisher - Lead High-Impact Infrastructure Projects Across ChicagoJob Overview:Company: Capitol Cement Company, Inc.Salary/Pay Rate: $51.40 to $55.10 per hour.Location: Chicago, IL.Job/Employment Type: Full Time.The Opportunity: Capitol Cement Company is seeking an experienced Working Concrete Foreman / Finisher to lead concrete crews on public works and infrastructure projects in the Chicago area. This role is responsible for coordinating daily field operations, reading plans, setting line and grade, managing crew productivity, and helping ensure quality concrete installation from layout through finishing.The ideal candidate has strong field leadership experience in concrete construction and can work effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment. This is a hands-on foreman role for someone who understands public works concrete, can lead by example, and can keep crews organized, productive, and working safely.Union / Employment Note:Current membership in Cement Masons Local 502 or Laborers Local 76 is preferred, but not required to apply. Qualified candidates must be willing and able to join the appropriate union upon hire, if needed.How You Will Make an Impact:Lead daily field operations for concrete crews on public works and infrastructure projectsRead and interpret construction drawings, engineering plans, and layout requirementsSet line, grade, and elevations for curbs, sidewalks, walls, and related concrete workCoordinate labor, equipment, and materials to keep work moving efficientlySupervise concrete delivery, placement, and finishing to meet quality standardsMonitor crew performance, productivity, and jobsite organization throughout the dayCommunicate with project stakeholders, including supervisors, inspectors, and engineers, as neededMaintain safe work practices and ensure crews follow project and company standardsIdentify field issues early and help resolve layout, elevation, or production challengesWork with tools when needed and lead by example in the fieldRequired Qualifications & Experience:10+ years of experience in concrete construction, including field leadership experienceStrong ability to read blueprints and interpret construction drawingsExperience setting line, grade, and elevations for concrete workProven ability to lead crews and manage daily field productionReliable attendance, punctuality, and strong jobsite follow-throughAbility to work outdoors in changing weather conditionsAbility to communicate clearly in EnglishWillingness to join the appropriate union upon hire, if neededPreferred Qualifications & Experience:Current membership in Cement Masons Local 502 or Laborers Local 76Experience on City of Chicago, State of Illinois, or other public works projectsExperience with curb, gutter, sidewalk, wall, and roadway concrete workFamiliarity with transit levels, layout tools, and elevation controlSpanish-speaking ability is a plusTrade school, union training, or related technical training is a plusCompensation & Benefits:$51.40 to $55.10 per hourUnion pensionUnion medical benefitsWeekly payOngoing safety and technical trainingAbout Us: Capitol Cement Company, Inc. has over 112 years of experience serving the Chicago area construction market.
