Power Generation Equipment Specialist
Job DescriptionThe Power Generation Equipment Specialist plays an essential role in supporting military operations by ensuring the availability of power to conduct activities anytime, anywhere. In this pivotal position, you will perform vital preventive maintenance checks on power generation equipment and replace key components such as voltage regulators, governors, and circuit cards. You will also adjust frequencies and voltages following technical publications to optimize the efficiency of the equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct maintenance on tactical utility and precision power-generation systems, including internal combustion engines and related equipment.
Skills You Will Develop
Operations of generators and power plants
Electrical generation and distribution
Operation, disassembly, inspection, and maintenance of diesel generators
Understanding of electrical and electronic circuitry principles
Desirable Skills
Experience using hand and power tools
Interest in electrical systems and large machinery
Through your training, you will acquire the skills necessary for a fulfilling civilian career as a power plant electrician.
Earn While You LearnIn the Army National Guard, you will earn a regular paycheck while receiving quality training, eliminating the need to incur debts for your education, and you will also be eligible for tuition assistance.
As a Power Generation Equipment Specialist, your training will consist of 10 weeks of Basic Training to learn essential soldiering skills and approximately 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training focused on maintaining electrical power systems. This training will include both classroom instruction and hands-on field experience.

Requirements
Enlistment in the Army National Guard
Must be at least a junior in high school or possess a high school diploma or GED certificate
Age range between 17 and 35
Ability to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
Must meet citizenship requirements
