Job Description The Equipment Services Technician plays a key role in supporting field service operations by assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of fountain and aeration systems. Working alongside the service team, this position helps complete daily service routes, perform service calls, and ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused mindset. The Equipment Services Technician communicates with customers on site, maintains accurate service documentation, and follows proper equipment handling and safety procedures. Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include. Complete service calls for customers regarding their pond/lake equipment and assist with installations of complete systems Support the scheduling and coordination of daily service routes while maintaining consistent communication with service office staff to optimize assignments based on urgency, efficiency, operational needs, and customer satisfaction Provide clear communication with clients on pond status, maintenance, and service issues while assisting with solutions Electronically complete service notes, including work orders/inventory used at visit, and communicate repair trends to quality and upper management Stay current on industry standards and application methods to support the service department’s reputation as the “Go To” name for pond services; participate in aquatic herbicide and algaecide application activities while ensuring regulatory compliance Follow and help reinforce all safety procedures regarding product use, equipment installation and service, electrical practices, and safety devices Assist in maintaining accurate documentation of work orders, inventory usage, and consumption Assist with vehicle, equipment, inventory, and shop audits; ensure proper cleaning and storage procedures are followed before, during, and after routes; address and report any concerns Support a continuous learning environment by being cross-trained and executing on all service-related positions Maintain professionalism while representing The Pond Guy in the field and when interacting with customers Support shop cleanliness and assist with grounds maintenance and general building upkeep as required Job Requirements To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills: 3-5 years of technical and mechanical maintenance experience 2-3 years of customer service experience recommended; sales experience is a plus Basic to intermediate electrical knowledge required, experience with high-voltage systems is a plus Proficient computer skills required, including the ability to use service software and basic office programs Strong verbal and written communication skills Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive a truck and trailer will be required after training Experience operating heavy machinery a plus Basic knowledge of pond management, fish health, and wildlife behaviors is a plus Cross-train on pond management, including obtaining state certification as a chemical applicator High School diploma required, college degree preferred Because this position provides a variety of tasks, the physical requirements apply to both an in-office and in-the-field environment. This position also requires the ability to swim, manual dexterity for working with small components, ability to complete repetitive motions for long periods of time, bending, continual lifting, lowering and carrying packages that typically weigh 25 - 50 lbs. and managing packages up to 150 lbs. as well as standing/stooping for long periods of time. In the field, expect adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, etc. for portions of the position that may be completed in these circumstances. You confidently navigate complex information, make sound decisions, and deliver exceptional customer service without hesitation. Availability While this is a year-round position, during the months of April – September, there will be extended work schedules, and you must be available to work between the hours of 7am and 6pm Monday-Friday. This equates to an average of 40-50 hours per week. During peak season, there are little to no Saturday shifts. The remaining months will be a Monday-Friday schedule.
