Overview
As a Structural Engineering Professional at Jacobs, you contribute to water, stormwater, and wastewater projects within the DC Metro area and Mid-Atlantic region. You lead structural analysis and design within an interdisciplinary team, ensuring that scope, codes, and cross-discipline impacts are well managed. You communicate clearly with engineers, designers, and clients, helping develop concepts and deliver robust structural solutions. ResponsibilitiesDevelop calculations, specifications, drawings, and the structural model with the teamUnderstand and manage the structural scope and its interactions with other disciplinesParticipate in project meetings and assist in resolving cross-disciplinary issuesMay act as stamping Engineer of RecordConduct internal quality reviews and support construction during the projectPerform on-site condition assessments and prepare repair recommendationsReview shop drawings and respond to RFIsLead/execute structural analysis and design leveraging engineering judgementProvide technical guidance and mentorship to designers and junior engineersAdvance workflows and adopt emerging technologies within the structural discipline
Key requirements10+ years of Structural Engineering experienceProfessional Engineer License (PE) or Structural Engineer License (SE) with ability to license in other statesExperience with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 350, AISC, OSHAExperience designing and analyzing traditional steel, masonry, and concrete structuresIdeal: Water/Wastewater or industrial facilities experienceExcellent written and verbal communicationStrong interpersonal skillsLeadership and mentoring capabilitiesKnowledge of wind and seismic design provisionsProficiency with STAAD, MathCad, TEDDS, RAMExperience with Autodesk Revit and Navisworks
