Payroll Specialist

Job Title: Payroll Specialist Department: Finance / HR Location: Schmitty & Sons - Minnesota Position SummaryThe Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing employee time approvals, processing payroll support activities, and monitoring benefit eligibility and ACA compliance. This role ensures accurate payroll inputs, timely review of employee time records, and proper tracking of hours for benefits and Affordable Care Act qualification. Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll & TimekeepingReview and approve employee time records for payroll processing.Monitor timekeeping accuracy and resolve discrepancies with supervisors.Ensure payroll inputs are accurate and submitted on schedule.Assist with payroll processing cycles and audit payroll reports. Benefits Eligibility & ACA TrackingTrack employee hours to determine eligibility for benefits.Monitor ACA full-time status and measurement periods.Maintain records related to benefit qualification thresholds.Assist HR with ACA reporting and documentation. Compliance & ReportingEnsure payroll and timekeeping processes comply with company policies and regulations.Maintain accurate employee hour records for audits and compliance.Generate reports related to hours worked, eligibility status, and payroll audits. CollaborationWork closely with HR, payroll, and department managers to resolve timekeeping issues.Support onboarding processes related to payroll and benefits eligibility. Qualifications3+ years of payroll, timekeeping, or HR/payroll operations experience.Strong understanding of payroll systems and timekeeping platforms.Familiarity with ACA tracking and benefits eligibility rules preferred.High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Ability to obtain class B CDL with P and S endorsements (we train you!).
