LOGISTICS MANAGER
Logistics ManagerSteelworks is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Logistics Manager to oversee and optimize all transportation, inventory, and material flow operations at our Lavonia, GA facility. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient movement of raw materials and finished steel products while maintaining safety, cost control, and on-time delivery performance.Position ResponsibilitiesManage daily logistics operations including inbound raw materials and outbound finished steel shipmentsCoordinate transportation schedules with carriers, vendors, and internal production teamsDevelop and maintain relationships with freight carriers and negotiate rates and contractsMonitor logistics KPIs (on-time delivery, freight costs, inventory turns) and implement process improvementsEnsure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policiesCollaborate with production, procurement, and project teams to align logistics with operational needsIdentify cost-saving opportunities and improve overall supply chain efficiencyResolve shipping, delivery, and inventory issues in a timely mannerRequired CapabilitiesExperience in steel fabrication, structural steel, or heavy industrial environmentsKnowledge of oversized load shipping and permittingWorking ConditionsPrimarily on-site at the Lavonia, GA facilityCombination of office and warehouse/yard environmentMay require occasional extended hours to meet project or shipping deadlinesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred)5+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation management, preferably in steel, manufacturing, or construction industriesStrong knowledge of freight operations.Experience managing third-party carriers and negotiating freight contractsFamiliarity with ERP systems and logistics softwareStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and leadership abilitiesSteelworks is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
