Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Senior CNC Machinist with specialized expertise in machining graphite components to tight tolerances. This role is responsible for programming, setup, and precision machining of graphite parts used in advanced manufacturing applications such as EDM electrodes, molds, aerospace, energy, or semiconductor tooling. The ideal candidate demonstrates deep technical knowledge, strong problem‐solving skills, and a high level of craftsmanship in a high‐precision environment.Key ResponsibilitiesCNC Programming & MachiningProgram, set up, and operate CNC milling machines (3‐axis, 4‐axis, and/or 5‐axis) for graphite machiningDevelop optimized toolpaths using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, NX, or similar)Select appropriate tooling, feeds, and speeds specifically for graphite materialsPerform complex machining operations including tight‐tolerance contouring, cavities, and fine featuresPrecision ManufacturingMachine parts to close tolerances and high surface finish requirementsInterpret and work from complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&TConduct in‐process and final inspections using precision measuring instrumentsTroubleshooting & Process ImprovementDiagnose and resolve machining, tooling, and programming issuesOptimize machining processes to improve cycle times, quality, and tool lifeCollaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams to ensure efficient productionSupport continuous improvement initiatives within the machining departmentLeadership & CollaborationServe as a technical resource for less‐experienced machinistsProvide guidance on best practices in setup, programming, and machiningMaintain professional communication and documentation of machining processesSafety & MaintenanceAdhere to all safety policies and proceduresMaintain clean, organized, and well‐functioning equipment and work areasPerform routine machine maintenance and report issues as neededRequired Qualifications7+ years of CNC machining experienceAdvanced knowledge of CNC programming (G‐code and CAM software)Strong experience with precision machining and tight‐tolerance workAbility to independently set up and run complex jobsExcellent blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with multi‐axis machining (4‐axis and/or 5‐axis)Background in high‐precision industries such as aerospace, medical, tooling, or advanced manufacturingFamiliarity with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologiesSkills & CompetenciesStrong mechanical aptitude and attention to detailAdvanced troubleshooting and problem‐solving abilitiesAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionEffective time management and organizational skillsCommitment to quality, safety, and professional standardsCompany DescriptionElement 6 has been in the graphite business for over 50 years with extensive experience in carbon and graphite products across multiple industries throughout North and South America.Element 6 offers warehousing services, distribution, packaging, shipping, and customized processing of carbon and graphite.
