Electrical Engineer II, Minneapolis, MN
Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic Electrical Engineer II to join our new product development team, which designs innovative solutions for the card personalization business. In this role, you will apply your design and analytical skills to take products from concept to production. Your expertise in embedded hardware and firmware design, prototyping, debugging, vendor coordination, and collaboration with manufacturing teams will be key to your success. You’ll help develop electronics used in printing, smart card, RFID, motion control, and laser technologies.Responsibilities:Design, schematic capture, and prototype microcontroller and microprocessor based productsDevelop firmware and/or FPGA designsTest and verify new designsImplement designs into productionIdentify engineering trends and drive strategies to guide the organization’s technical directionWork with vendors and sourcing to define technical requirements for the product/componentsDesign to and qualify new designs to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, FCC, and CECreate and execute test plans for hardware and software validationDesign and implement test fixtures to verify the circuit boards and/or systems functionality for production testingBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering2+ years of experience in embedded hardware design, schematic capture, layout, and board bring upExperience in analog and digital circuit design including DC/DC power supplies, Ethernet, USB, DDR memory, PCIe, SPI, I2C and/or UARTsExperience developing in C/C++ and/or VHDL or VerilogAbility to work closely with other engineers, lab technicians, product management and customers in a team environmentMust be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization for USPreferred Qualifications:Working knowledge of EE design tools (Mentor Graphics)Working knowledge of FPGA tools (Xilinx, Microsemi, Altera)Experience with smart card, printing or stepper motor designBasic understanding of project management (timelines, costs, requirements, resources)3+ years of experience in embedded hardware design, schematic capture, layout, and board bring upWhere you will be: This role requires five days in the office onsite in Minneapolis, MN.
