The ideal candidate is an experienced Python engineer who is comfortable working in a quantitative/scientific environment and translating mathematical concepts, algorithms, and research specifications into clean, reliable, maintainable software. Deep machine learning or algorithm-development expertise is not required. What You’ll DoBuild, test, and maintain production-quality Python applications and data-processing pipelinesWork extensively with Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy for data manipulation, numerical computation, transformation, and analysisDevelop efficient workflows for large, complex, numerical, and time-series datasetsTranslate mathematical concepts, research specifications, white papers, and prototypes into reliable Python implementationsImplement mathematical, statistical, numerical, and signal-processing algorithms developed by research/algorithm SMEsProcess and analyze time-series, experimental, clinical, and pre-clinical datasetsWrite clean, modular, maintainable Python code with strong unit-test coverage and documentationProfile, troubleshoot, debug, and optimize Python applications for performance and scalabilityCollaborate with researchers, algorithm developers, software engineers, and embedded/firmware engineers to move concepts and prototypes into robust implementationsWork independently and take ownership of technical implementation with minimal day-to-day guidanceRequired Qualifications5+ years of professional software engineering experienceDeep proficiency in Python as a primary software development languageStrong hands-on experience with Pandas, NumPy, and SciPyExperience building and maintaining production-quality Python applications and/or data-processing pipelinesStrong understanding of Python software engineering best practices, including:Object-oriented and modular designUnit testingGit/version controlCode reviewsDocumentationDebugging and performance optimizationComfortable with undergraduate-level calculus, linear algebra, probability, and statisticsAbility to understand mathematically defined concepts and translate them into working softwareExperience working with structured, numerical, scientific, experimental, or time-series dataAbility to work autonomously and solve technical problems without significant hands-on mentorshipB.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical/quantitative disciplineAble to understand and work with the math—not finding another algorithm researcher or ML specialist.Preferred QualificationsScientific computing or numerical computing experienceExperience developing or implementing signal-processing or numerical algorithmsExperience optimizing NumPy/Pandas/SciPy workflows for large datasetsExperience processing physical, biomedical, experimental, or time-series dataFamiliarity with C/C++ or MATLABExperience working with scientific, healthcare, medical-device, or regulated datasetsExposure to machine learning, regression, anomaly detection, or statistical modelingExperience with Matplotlib, Plotly, or scikit-learnMachine learning experience is a nice-to-have, not a core requirement. The team is specifically prioritizing stronger software engineering capabilities over deep ML expertise.Primary RequirementSenior, production-grade Python Software Engineer who writes clean, modular, testable code and can operate independentlyCore LanguageDeep hands-on expertise in PythonCore LibrariesStrong hands-on proficiency with Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and Python testing frameworksSoftware EngineeringOOP/modular design, testing, Git, code reviews, debugging, documentation, and performance optimizationQuantitative FoundationComfortable with calculus, linear algebra, probability, and statistics; able to understand and implement mathematically defined algorithmsData TypesNumerical, biomedical time-series, clinical-trial, experimental, and pre-clinical datasetsNice-to-HavesScientific computing, signal processing, ML exposure, C/C++ or MATLAB, medical-device/regulated-industry experienceWork ArrangementPreference for candidates within driving distance of Santa Clarita, CA.Hybrid/onsite expectations may be flexible for a highly experienced, autonomous candidateThe Ideal CandidateYou’re a software engineer first—not a data scientist, machine learning specialist, or academic researcher who happens to use Python. You live and breathe Python development and have meaningful hands-on experience with Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy. You’re comfortable receiving a mathematically oriented concept, algorithm, or technical specification and turning it into clean, tested, maintainable Python software. You don't need to be an algorithm developer or advanced mathematician, but you should be comfortable enough with calculus, linear algebra, probability, and statistics to understand the concepts you're implementing. Most importantly, you're an experienced engineer who can take ownership of the implementation and work independently without requiring significant software-engineering mentorship.#Python #PythonDeveloper #SoftwareEngineering #ScientificComputing #NumPy #Pandas #SciPy #SeniorSoftwareEngineer #SignalProcessing #EngineeringJobs #Hiring
