General Information ID: 1012Main Organization: Public SchoolsLocation: Arthur Ashe Elementary School - 1001 Cedar Fork Road, HenricoMinimum Salary: $ 31,510Posting Date: 05-22-2026Closing Date: 06-26-2026Job Status: Full-time General Statement of Duties Under the guidance of the Exceptional Education teacher, provides instructional or behavioral support to allow special education students in an Early Childhood setting to achieve instructional or behavioral goals and objectives.Essential DutiesUnder the direct supervision of the classroom teacher the Instructional Assistant:Provides one on one or small group instruction to students Assists with classroom management and behavior modificationAssists with field trips, community-based instruction, and other activitiesAssists students with personal care tasks, including but not limited to, hygiene, diapering, toileting and wash-up routinesAssists students with mobility needs such as, lifting and positioning students, lifting in and out of wheelchairs; and loading and unloading the bus and operates adaptive equipmentCollects data on student performance and progress Assists with creation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials Reports student concerns directly and promptly to the teacher and assists with student resolutionAssist with implementation of behavior management plans Assists with breakfast, lunch and snack, including clean-upMay be required to assist with student's medical needsPerforms other duties as assignedRegular attendance is requiredAdditional Information:This position works 10 months/ 204 days / 7.25 hours per day. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in special education classrooms; ability to maintain records and confidentiality; ability to operate audio visual, standard office and computer equipment; ability to operate adaptive equipment; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and administrators.Must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.Title I Schools - Must have a minimum of 42 semester hours from an accredited college or university or passing scores on the ParaPro Assessment.
