$26.57 - $39.86 Hourly $55,273 - $82,909 Annually This position is a Pay Band C7 Posting DetailsThe Cannabis Control Division provides efficient licensing, compliance, and regulatory services to ensure the safe production, testing, sale, and consumption of commercial and medical cannabis by ensuring that licensed individuals are qualified to provide services in the cannabis industry. The Division issues licenses to cannabis producers, microbusiness producers, integrated microbusinesses, manufacturers, retailers, consumption areas, vertically integrated establishments, couriers, and testing and research laboratories. Additionally, the Division works in concert with the Department of Public Safety, Office of the State Engineer, Environment Department, other state agencies, tribes and pueblos to assist applicants to get licensed and assure compliance with all applicable state and local laws. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date. Why does the job exist?Candidates that reside in these counties currently, or that are willing to relocate to these counties will be considered for the position. The position will work collaboratively with the Division's Compliance Manager, Compliance Officers, Investigator and Legal Staff to ensure compliance with the Cannabis Regulatory Act and Division Rules by conducting on-site inspections of all licensed facilities. This position will educate and work with licensees to help them correct any violations, refer matters concerning repeat or serious violations for investigation and/or disciplinary action. How does it get done?Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Conduct on-site inspections of cannabis producer, manufacturer and retailer establishments licensed by the Division; prepare inspection checklists; issue notices of violations and assure compliance with corrective action plans; maintain and update inspection tracker, licensing database and track and trace software; collect samples of cannabis or cannabis products for necessary testing; assist with investigations; present for witness testimony during administrative disciplinary hearings; provide customer service and other duties as assigned. Who are the customers?Our customers are licensed individuals, establishment owners or applicants from the cannabis industry and members of the public who are dependent on or have an interest in the products and services the cannabis industry provides. Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will be a purpose driven professional who is motivated and resourceful. The successful candidate must understand priorities and demonstrate the ability to proactively anticipate needs, deescalate difficult situations while providing exceptional customer service, drive improvements, complete tasks and projects with a thorough attention to detail, multi-task, and work independently. Exceptional organizational skills are required; strong communication (writing and verbal) and interpersonal skills are a must. Additionally, the candidate must be flexible and adaptable for extensive travel throughout the state. Minimum QualificationBachelor's degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience Employment RequirementsPre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a current and valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office and field setting; extensive personal computer and phone usage; long periods of sitting, standing and driving; occasional overnight in-state travel; and exposure to cannabis, cannabis products, UV Lights, pesticides, allergens, flammable chemicals, and various weather conditions.
