Manager, Production Maintenance

Our competitive compensation and benefit programs reflect Boehringer Ingelheim's high regard for our employees.The Manager Production Maintenance is responsible for management of the Production Maintenance (depending on facility assigned, could be Packaging Maintenance) department and personnel, including support engineers. The incumbent will ensure that critical equipment and utilities are maintained to the highest compliant standards. This role will manage budgets related to production or packaging equipment and process utility upkeep/improvement. The position holder will provide technical expertise on all process utility and production (or packaging) equipment throughout the assigned facilities as well as make decisions regarding the management of the production equipment and associated infrastructure.Duties & ResponsibilitiesManages and directs Production (or Packaging) Maintenance supervisors to drive efficient and effective utilization of resourcesProvides recommendations or input for process, PM, or asset strategy improvementsAssists the production or packaging group with technical problems and operational issuesActively participates with a diverse group of individuals in a team effort to identify root causes and subsequent implementation of corrective measures, with subsequent tracking and trending of operationsSupports the development of Maintenance procedures to enhance equipment reliabilityManages the production (packaging) maintenance department, support engineers where applicable, and inter relationships with peers, support organizations, Production, Quality and R&D functionsWrites, oversees, and approves departmental proceduresPerforms CAPA Investigations and Change Control as required by Quality AssuranceEnforces compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policiesSupports Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for production equipment and process systemsIn applicable areas of production depending on assigned facility, responsible for management of lyophilization maintenance team, including ensuring equipment reliability and optimal equipment operationRequirementsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance, or related discipline and minimum six (6) years maintenance, engineering, or related experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in the pharmaceutical or biological industryORMinimum of ten (10) years maintenance, engineering, or related experience in a manufacturing environment with relevant maintenance certification and/or apprenticeship in lieu of degree, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biological industryExperience must be inclusive of a minimum of three (3) years leading people and projects, preferably directly related to maintenance operationsWorking knowledge of Maintenance Best Practices (Reliability, Planning and Scheduling, Work Execution) strongly desired.
