JOB DESCRIPTION JOB DESCRIPTION RN - PCU About Facility: 201 E. Grover St, Shelby NC 28150 o 241 licensed beds o Level 3 Trauma o Teaching Hospital? No o Certified Chest Pain Center o Stroke Center Unit Information: o Beds: 32 o Minimum Years of Experience required? 18 months PCU RN experience o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Could see any patient not requiring mechanical ventilation – CHF, Dysrhythmia, Chest Pain work up, Stroke, Abdominal illnesses and infections, Respiratory illness, Diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, IVDA, etc. Patient Ratios: o RN: 1:4 is most common; could possibly go to 1:5 depending on acuity Required Licensure & Certifications: o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Skills required: o Experience with traches, cardiac gtt experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, management of central lines Support within the Department: o CNA - ADL s o Receptionist/HUC? Dayshift only o Charge nurse – Resource to assist with all nursing care o Phlebotomy? Yes, other than nurse draws o IV/VAT Team o RT, 24/7 o Hospitalist, 24/7 o Intensivist, 24/7 o Telemetry monitoring – bedside and nurses station Technology/Equipment: o EMR: EPIC o IV Pump: Alaris o Med dispensing: Omnicell o Monitors: Phillips Floating: o Within region and scope of practice o Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH) If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock) Orientation (facility and unit): o NEO o 2 days departmental Scheduling: o Weekend rotation: every other o No call o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays o RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours o Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks Other notes: o Scrub Color: Navy o Parking: Free?
