Join us!ACCOUNTING INTERNWe are looking for a driven Accounting Intern with a basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial principles and terms who is ready for an immersive, real-world experience. Under the supervision of our staff, the Accounting Intern can expect to participate in the preparation of journal entries and financial reports, analyze actual financial data, learn more about bookkeeping software, and assist with other accounting activities. You should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking. To be a strong candidate for an Accounting Internship, you should possess an understanding of accounting and financial principles and a positive attitude. You should be collaborative, trustworthy, receptive to feedback, and eager to learn.The Accounting Intern will report to the Accountant and will work out of our Kansas City, MO office.Principal Duties and Accountabilities:Shadow members of the Accounting department as they perform their dutiesAssist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial recordsPrepare financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, invoices, and other documentsWork with bookkeeping softwareHandle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrityLearn how to work as part of the Accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company or clientsTake on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operationsEducation:Senior student or recent graduate, currently pursuing a bachelor’s in accounting, finance, or similar degree programKnowledge, skills and abilities:Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principlesAptitude for math, proficiency with computersStrong verbal and written communication skillsHigh level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibilityMotivation and a strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possiblePhysical and/or Travel demands:This position will work out of our Kansas City officeFrequent use of computer, including keyboard, viewing monitor for extended periods of time, physically moving throughout the officeBenefits and Compensation:This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefits eligible position, and is classified as non-exempt. We pay our interns because we value your time and want to support your financial stability as you begin to explore your options in this industry. The hourly rate for this position has been established at $18/hour and is U.S. Engineering's good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting.
