Machine Shop Supervisor – 2nd Shift

Serpa Packaging Solutions is looking for a Machine Shop Supervisor for 2nd Shift to join our growing organization! Our Machine Shop Supervisor, 2nd Shift oversee the day-to-day operations of the machine shop and maintain the overall productivity to ensure job completion and customer (internal and external) satisfaction. Manage all aspects of the machine shop operations to meet the goals and objectives established by the Machine Shop Manager. Prepare and schedule daily and weekly machinist and CNC machinists in coordination with production and customer needs. Order supplies and tooling, maintain all necessary and adequate inventories. Maintain a high level of overall shop organization. Engage employees in promotion and participation of productivity improvements, and quality initiatives. Requirements: Experience in working in a Machine Shop and knowledge of the machine processes Able to operate with minimum supervision and provide instruction to staff of Machine Shop department Ability to identify personnel items and escalate them to management in a timely manner Responsible for 2nd shift employee performance and direct management of machine shop staff Organize 2nd shift machine shop activities to support cost reduction targets, on-time, and quality shipment of all Serpa Packaging Equipment to exceed customer expectations Organize and assign appropriate schedules to ensure effective use of personnel and resources Maintain required quality levels and adhere to Serpa’s accepted manufacturing standards Optimize the fabrication shop’s effectiveness in achieving company-wide objectives in alignment with budget and timelines Collect and process machine shop data, diagnose problems with equipment, and facilitate corrective processes as needed Maintain time and attendance through our online timecards for department employees Ensure proper training to staff is provided, as well as ensure proper machining and safety practices are being followed Keep shop safe, clean and professionally organized by having a daily, weekly, and monthly clean-up program Support company safety policies for department. Demonstrated ability to drive change and implement continuous process improvements Desired Requirements: 3 years of previous management / supervisor experience Some level of college experience or equivalent preferred A minimum of 2 years Machine Shop experience, working knowledge in materials, processes and equipment Prior ERP experience preferred Mechanical aptitude and have blueprint reading experience Strong communication and leadership skills Effective verbal & written communication Ability to effectively develop schedules and meet production deadlines Team player with coaching, interpersonal and technical skills What’s in it for you?
