Job Title: Registered Nurse – Crisis Intervention (Traveling Role)Location: New York City – All Boroughs (Field-Based)Category: DHS – Homeless ServicesPay Rate: $80 – $85 per hourOffice Location: 77 Sands St 6th floor suite 7042 Brooklyn NY 11201Job OverviewThe NYC Department of Homeless Services is hiring Registered Nurses to join the Crisis Intervention Team. In this field-based role, you will provide direct medical and mental health care to individuals experiencing homelessness across the city. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable populations while gaining unique experience in crisis intervention and public health.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct medical, mental health, and safety assessments for individuals in streets, subways, parks, and shelters.Collaborate with DHS Crisis Coordinators, outreach teams, and community partners to build trust and encourage acceptance of services or shelter.Identify individuals in crisis requiring immediate medical or psychiatric intervention and take swift action.Assess risk of harm to self or others and implement emergency responses in accordance with Section 9.58 of the Mental Hygiene Law.Coordinate with law enforcement, hospitals, and transport teams to ensure safe transfers and continuity of care.Provide hands‐on medical care in both field and office settings.Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation and maintain program compliance.Collaborate with hospital clinicians (C.P.E.P.) to support effective treatment planning.Maintain authorization to operate as part of a mobile crisis outreach team (DOHMH approval).QualificationsActive New York State RN LicenseAHA BLS CertificationMinimum 2 years of experience in mental or behavioral health (experience with vulnerable populations preferred)Strong crisis intervention, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to remain calm, compassionate, and professional under pressureFlexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel across NYC boroughsWhy Join UsCompetitive Pay: $80–$85/hourMeaningful Impact: Play a direct role in addressing homelessness and mental health crises across NYCUnique Experience: Gain hands‐on field experience in crisis intervention, public health, and behavioral healthCollaborative Environment: Work alongside dedicated professionals across healthcare, social services, and city agenciesCompensation: $85.00 per hourAbout UsPriority Cares Home Services is a New York-based agency dedicated to providing compassionate care to communities across Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Westchester, and Staten Island.
